With MAD Controller you can control external axes of Festo (such as CMMT-AS, CMMP-AS, and CMMT-ST) from Universal Robots collaborative robots

At NUTAI, we are excited to announce the release of version 2.1.0 of MAD Controller, a software developed within the URCap environment designed for controlling one or multiple external axes of Festo CMMT-AS, CMMP-AS, and now CMMT-ST, from Universal Robots collaborative robots.

MAD Controller simplifies the task of controlling up to 4 axes from a single robot, without the need for external components such as PLC or HMI. This software enables versatile control of linear axes, rotary tables, automatic storage systems, conveyors, among others, providing an affordable and efficient solution that increases the gility and reach of collaborative robots, thus offering flexibility in production process configurations.

Examples of applications:

MAD Controller Festo controller allows you to add a seventh axis to significantly increase the reach of your Universal Robots collaborative robot.
With Mad Controller, you can control a rotary table from the Universal Robots cobot.
Move your Universal Robots collaborative robot in a gantry configuration (with seventh and eighth axes).

Example 1:

Add a 7th axis to significantly increase its reach

Example 2:

Control a turning table from the UR cobot

Example 3:

Move your UR cobot in a gantry (7th & 8th axis) set up

Among the highlighted features of MAD Controller are:

  • Affordable and efficient solution: Allows control of up to 4 additional axes from a single robot.
  • Expanded reach of your robot: With the ability to add a 7th axis to the robot, significantly extending its reach.
  • Intuitive and code-free setup: Point configuration is easily and quickly done, reducing startup time.
  • Precise motion control: MAD Controller enables adjustment of speed and motion mode towards the axes, accurate precise and smooth control.
  • No need for additional components: Does not require the addition of external components such as PLC or HMI, simplifying setup and reducing implementation costs.

Technical requirements for MAD Controller:

  • Universal Robots e-Series (PolyScope 5.3.0 or higher)
  • Festo motor controller(s) CMMT-AS/ST or CMMP-AS
  • Ethernet connection between robot and motor controller(s)
  • USB device (only required for installation)

MAD Controller in action:

With version 2.1.0., at NUTAI, we continue to enhance the user experience by providing new features and performance improvements, making it easier for users to have accurate and efficient control over their production processes.
