Clothia – CLOTH Inspection & Automation with AI

NUTAI is participating in the CLOTHIA project (CLOTH Inspection & Automation with AI), an R&D initiative aimed at developing a comprehensive, automated and intelligent technological solution for the identification, handling and classification of garments and textile items.

The main objective of CLOTHIA is to develop an advanced technological solution capable of identifying, handling and classifying garments or textile items based on their physical condition and material composition, thereby enabling optimal decision-making in reuse, recycling and recovery processes, as well as facilitating its application in industrial environments, particularly in quality control and traceability.

Sistema de clasificación automatizada de textiles mediante visión artificial e inteligencia artificial

Key Technological Areas

The project addresses several technological development areas, among which the following stand out:

System for the detection and classification of the condition and material composition of post-consumer textile items using computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies.
New methodologies and tools for the handling of deformable objects, focused on the automated gripping and handling of textiles.
Software module for the extraction, synchronization and real-time fusion of multimodal data (image, voice, tactile sensors, among others).
Knowledge base of textile materials and AI algorithms for automatic model calibration and selection.
Tools for the enhancement and support of data acquisition, including super-resolution, reconstruction and detection of suboptimal conditions.

Project Consortium

CLOTHIA is being developed by a multidisciplinary consortium composed of the following partners:

Asociación de Investigación de la Industria Textil y Cosmética (AITEX), NUTAI, EXOS, KOOPERA, CIGIP – Universitat Politècnica de València

This project is supported by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) (IVACE+i Innovación) and co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme of the Valencian Community 2021–2027. Grant reference: INNEST/2025/184, budget line: S1010 (20250000009).
