The city of the future according to Ford: more competitiveness and electricity | Autocasión

Ford has prepared an event where more than 500 people have been able to see through virtual reality glasses what the cities of tomorrow will be like. More electricity, more competitiveness and new forms of transport will arrive in a few years’ time.

Autolivery VR OK

500 people have experienced at the same time Ford’s ‘Autolivery’ concept, a city seen through virtual reality. The concept was developed for the ‘Last Mile Mobility’ challenge for mobility, which focuses on the final stages of delivery.

Steven Armstrong, Group Vice President and President Europe, spoke at the event in Germany about the future and what mobility will look like in the cities of the future.

Broadly speaking, Armstrong commented on how important the day of tomorrow will be and the connectivity of all cars with the elements that are part of the future cities of the 21st century.

‘Cars and vans have always been connected to motorway and highway networks. From now on they will be integrated into more complex physical and digital networks. We know the importance of the 21st century and the 21st century of cities,’ said Amstrong.

But what will the city of the future look like?

Ford’s vision of the cities of the future is that they will be made up of intelligent vehicles that will be paired or adapted to new operating systems, allowing new forms of business to be adopted with new forms of mobility and transport.

This will be a big change for citizens, who will be able to explore a new world where there will be much more competition due to the number of new forms of transport.

In a few years’ time, Ford foresees that cities will need to overhaul and remodel their infrastructure rather than just take care of their parks and squares, as they do now. ‘A lot of different infrastructures will be needed.

That is why, in the city of the future, the change will begin with a shift away from air pollution and towards electricity. Ford foresees a huge demand for electricity due to the rise of electric cars.

New ways of seeing and leading a new form of mobility have been put in the form of virtual reality in which Ford has entered.
